This Employment Contract sets out the terms and conditions of employment between Caribbean Mixup and the Employee. It is a legally binding agreement and must be read carefully before signing.

The Employee is employed as a Chef. The purpose of the role is to prepare, cook, and present food to the standards required by Caribbean Mixup, ensuring consistency, safety, and high levels of hygiene at all times. This role is fundamental to the culinary reputation of the business.

The Employee’s normal place of work is Caribbean Mixup, 8 Station Road, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 3BL. The Employee may be required to work at alternative locations within reasonable travel distance if operational needs require it.
The Employee will work 5 hours per day, 3 days per week, totalling 15 hours per week. The standard start time for every shift is 07:00, which is mandatory to ensure that the menu is prepared in its entirety prior to service. This is a permanent contract and is not a zero hours agreement.
The rate of pay shall be agreed between the Owner and the Manager, paid monthly in arrears. The Employee will receive a £25 travel allowance per working day for travel between London and Bishop’s Stortford, paid at the same rate as the hourly remuneration.
For shifts of six hours or more, the Employee is entitled to a 20 minute unpaid break, taken at a time agreed with the supervisor. Breaks must not be taken at the start or end of a shift and must be recorded via digital systems.
The Employee agrees to carry out food preparation and cooking to the required standard, maintain food hygiene and safety using the FSA Audit application, and ensure all equipment and food temperatures are monitored and recorded digitally.
The Employee will serve a three month probation period. During this time, performance, conduct, attendance, and suitability for the role will be assessed. The probation period may be extended if necessary to reach the required standards.
The Employee is entitled to statutory paid holiday, calculated on a pro-rata basis according to hours worked. Holiday requests must be submitted in advance via the When I Work application for formal approval.
The Employee must notify the supervisor via telephone as early as possible if unable to attend work. Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will be paid where eligible, provided that the formal notification procedures are followed correctly.
The Employee must follow the Code of Conduct, the Food Hygiene and Safety Policy, and all other policies within the HR Pack. Professional behaviour and integrity are required at all times while on the premises.
The Employee is subject to the Employer’s Disciplinary Policy and Grievance Policy, which ensure fairness, clarity, and consistency in the management of workforce issues.
The Employee must not disclose confidential information relating to the business, customers, or staff. All personal data must be handled in accordance with the Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy.
After probation, both parties must give one week’s notice to terminate employment. The Employer may terminate employment without notice in cases of gross misconduct, as defined in the Disciplinary Policy.
Any amendment to this contract must follow the Surgical Edit Protocol for Employment Contracts and must be agreed in writing by both parties to ensure legal validity.
This contract, together with the HR Pack and all referenced policies, forms the entire agreement between the Employer and the Employee, superseding all previous discussions.
